Heart rate (pulse)
Number of heartbeats per minute.
Blood pressure
Force of blood against artery walls.
Systolic pressure
Pressure during heart contraction (top number).
Diastolic pressure
Pressure during heart relaxation (bottom number).
Respiratory rate
Breaths per minute.
Body temperature
Internal heat of the body.
Oxygen saturation (SpO₂)
Percent of hemoglobin carrying oxygen.
Pain score
Subjective rating of pain intensity (often 0–10).
Tachycardia
Heart rate above the normal resting range.
Bradycardia
Heart rate below the normal resting range.
Hypertension
Persistently elevated blood pressure.
Hypotension
Abnormally low blood pressure.
Hypoxia
Insufficient oxygen available to tissues.
Baseline
A patient's usual vital-sign values for comparison.
